My pay raise

In a more comical approach, I noticed I got my pay raise. I'd like to thank good ol' retail for making me realize once more why I'm pursuing my nursing degree not only for a job I will love, but one that I could fill my gas tank.
Here it is: I am now making a whopping .09 cents more an hour. I should be thankful, right?
The smart Alec I am, I let my boss know that didn't cover the difference in gas that it now costs me to get to work.
So, in humor I write the following:
I have one shift a week on Saturday, due to the lack of hours available at the store that starts with an S & merged with a K, it's four hours. In one week, I might take home after taxes $20. I have to put in enough gas for 2 gallons because I have a minivan gas hog that gets 18 mpg & that's my approximate distance one way- 18 miles. My shift is usually from 9-1, get up at 7am, leave house at 8:15, drop kids at Grandparents at 8:40, get to work by 9. Work until 1, leave, get kiddos, get home by 2. So, I'm gone for about 6 hours for $20 after tax, earning $12 after I pay for gas. So I thought I was staying for the discount, but now I'm thinking it's time to say adios. I figured out that with my "not even with the cost of living raise" from the big S that merged with the Big K that each year I will get about an extra $24. And I am so thankful for that. That is about a third of the cost to fill my minivan gas tank - which last time I filled it cost $70 before it went to $3.85 the other day. I wonder if the highway made racetracks along side the roads if we could start riding horses to work? There's enough uncut grass in this state to feed them. Instead of asking hubby for a more gas efficient car & cramming everyone in I might ask him for a horse. Hey hon, can I have a horse for Mothers Day?

I so hate the gas prices too. It is costing us so much just to get the girls to school.

Gas prices are just not stopping and our paychecks are not increasing enough to keep up with it. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
