Waverly Hills Part II

I'm not sure what I was thinking when I put the slide show up, but I didn't write anything about Waverly Hills. We had to go there for a field trip for school, it was that or a case study. I chose the field trip. There was a lot of neat history about it being the TB hospital & Jefferson County having the highest rate of TB back then. When it turned into the geriatric center, there was a lot of abuse reported & it was shut down.
I'm not sure what I think about spirits/ghosts versus where it fits (or doesn't fit) with Christianity...but I do know, in two pictures there were lots of orbes, and in one that I took from the outside it looked normal but when I zoom in there is an outline of a face in the top middle window. They estimated 60,000+ deaths there when it was up & running. About 1 death per hour. Interesting piece of history.
What was more interesting to me was I've never talked with the girls about it & when Charlotte found out where I was going, she said "Are you going in the death shute?" I was shocked thinking, where did my 10 year old hear about this stuff. She then tells me ALL about the nurse that was hung there...etc. She said kids at school were talking about it. Hmmm, what else were the kids at school talking about?

Tom and I love this to read this stuff. We googled the place and have been reading up on it. I don't know if I could have gone in that place.

I guess their info is still outdated.
It was no where near 60,000 deaths, it was more like 5,000 to 6,000.
I have over 3,600 death certificates on file which is 31 entire years worth with several partial years. The worst year in the history of the institution was 1945 with 162 deaths.
And the worst day in that worst year was Dec 16th on which 4 people died. No where near a death an hour.
Just thought you might be interested.

Spooky stuff. I'm not even interested in getting close to that place.

John,
Thank you for your comment, I am interested. I didn't verify what they told us (my bad), just listed what they said on the tour. I don't remember if it was said on the video when TAPS did the show. So, I'm curious, how do you get the death certificates on file? How do you get them to change their "factual" info that they give? I'm all for that. :)
Either way, it was creepy, but graves, causes of death, history, I love that stuff.
