What's the difference between a sheep & a goat? Well, there are several...
The goats hair usually doesn't need sheared or combed, now that's an art. They have naturally long, narrow horns & some have beards.
Most sheep are hornless, but the ones that do have curved horns. Sheep have fleece, not hair.
Male goats have an odor, especially during mating season...Male goats also have glands beneath their tail.
Sheep have them beneath their eyes or under their hooves. What are glands you ask? Well, it's an organ that makes digestive juices, hormones, sweat, tears & saliva.
When sheep run from danger, they eventually all come back together as a group and look at their predator together. And, they have a wide angle of vision to see danger better & have amazing senses, which enables them to see danger from 1200 to 1500 feet away.
What's even more incredible about sheep is that they have an amazing tolerance for pain. They don't show it because if they did, the predators are looking for the weak and injured.
And one more fun tidbit, sheep are less likely to have external parasites, while goats are more likely to have lice.
Anyhow, that's my tidbit for the day..hope you enjoyed it.
